Why Hello!

It has been a while, I realize. I think of you often, I promise.

I have embraced the 'pajama as daytime wear' trend and these are a pair of silk pants that I picked up at Encore. I wore them out to dinner at Bite Cafe here in Chicago. It was delicious.

My purse is an old Coach of my mother's. I love the color.

Bisous.

Hear the Blues

DSC_0658

Went out with friends to hear Chicago's blues.

This is one of my mother's coats. It is reversible, wool to silk with watercolor details. I don't know anything more about it, though I wish I could tell you its story.

Constant Dreams of California

Enhanced Overexposure

I am still holding out against an iPhone, though my resolve is waning. The reason I bring this up is that the above photo, taken back in January, looks instagram-y, no? And I don't even have the app! It was really overexposed, super bright and washed out. But when I plugged it into iPhoto and hit "enhance," this magic happened. I think it looks like an old postcard. So, I take little credit for the editing but am excited about what resulted. In other words, I'm proud of me and my pretty picture.

Hopefully your Monday was lovely. I finally applied to an absolute dream job only to have the email bounce right back. They had announced yesterday via twitter that the position was filled and done it from within the company. Connections really are everything. Maybe I'll try to volunteer for them until something else opens someday... Bisous bisous.

Springtime Colors

DSC_0452 DSC_0433 DSC_0442 DSC_0451 DSC_0429 DSC_0427 DSC_0432 DSC_0458 DSC_0455 DSC_0445 DSC_0469 DSC_0443 DSC_0453 DSC_0475

This sweater was love at first sight. And I waited and waited and finally when no one else wanted it and it was about to be thrown out into the cold Salvation Army truck, it became mine. Can you see where the stitch changes direction at the shoulders, bottom hem, and sleeves? I think it's purty. I want to show off a bit of springtime in the city and I've decided that Hyde Park might have some of the best landscaping in Chicago.

My scarf was a gift from a dear family friend and I have barely taken it off since February. It comes from one of my absolute favorite stores, The Gardener. I hope one day to have a home that looks like the Berkeley store - the merchandising is absolute unbridled genius. And everything is beautiful.

My shoes are from way back in 2006: my junior year abroad. In stalking them, I also learned that my boyfriend and I do not feel the same way about shopping. At all. Unless it's in a record or book store.

Enjoy your weekend, bisous bisous.

If taking pictures inside is what it takes, then inside it is. I've been away and I could make excuses for it. Instead, I'm simply going to try my best to update more frequently, create interesting content, and put thought into how I present it to you.

This vest barely gets a break from me, it was a key find at Encore and I almost want this grey weather to stay around so that I don't have to retire it during a summer in Chicago. The belt, vintage Ralph Lauren,  and the boots are also from Encore. Stop by, we get banging donations all the time.

If you've visited my blog before, then my necklace is more than familiar, and yes, I am still obsessed with it 2 years since its discovery. It was my mom's. Earrings: Laurel Burch; Scarf, Bracelet: Hungarian; dress: Gypsy 05 (consigned); sweater: Ann Taylor via Encore.

Thanks for stopping by, let me know what you're thinking with a comment! Bisous.

Back in the Saddle

DSC_0295

It's been a while since we've seen each other; this time I've missed you.

I'm also full of vintage: the purse, belt, and jewelry were my mother's. The skirt is making multiple appearances on this here blog as one-half of an Evan Piccone for Saks Fifth Avenue set that I bought back in September at Encore Resale. As a weekly volunteer, I can tell you there is a constant flow of similar treasures to be found. My shirt is Club Monaco via Buffalo Exchange and my shoes are Basque brand Pare Gabia.

The temperatures are heating up here in Chicago and I am desperately hoping this is it, winter is gone. Wishful thinking? Perhaps. But a girl can dream.

Have a lovely weekend, wherever you are. Bisous.

Guten Tag

With no lederhosen to be found in my closet, I improvised to create this particular outfit. After a night dancing away to Flogging Molly, I couldn't bring myself to wear heels:

Shawl, necklace, & blouse: vintage from my mom's closet; sweater: Arancrafts via eBay; purse: vintage Coach via Encore; thrifted shorts, via Encore, scarf from Comptoir Irlandais in Dijon, France; Clarks desert boots

Guten tag, or the German schoolboy, as my boyfriend puts it. My response?

Photobucket

Yes. Man Repelling one pair of flat desert boots at a time.

I have also started playing with a tripod and remote control. These pictures are the result.

I also like to pretend that the lamp is my studio lighting. I suppose I feel the need to show you all the different light, hence the 10 photos. I swear.

Today we saw German documentarist Werner Herzog's latest film, Into the Abyss. The world always seems a bit different walking out of one of his works and this was no exception.

I hope you had a lovely weekend, here's to an easy start to another week. Gros bisous.

Inspired by blogger Valentine's chunky headbands, I tried out this scarf as a way to keep my ears warm, fight the wind, and avoid having the camera hit my brim! Still thinking about ways to tie it. The Aran sweater is a very special purchase - I will go into more detail about it soon!

I am endlessly fascinated by how different the landscape can be despite seemingly similar weather conditions. I missed the opportunity to take pictures in sunlight and trying to use different analog lenses, the lighting was pretty off. And editing scares me/I need to take a digital photography class.

Thanks for stopping by. Gros bisous.
